Clinical inputs
Allowed range: 10–60 mL/kg
Factor replacement is capped at 10 to 15 mL/kg. Purpura exchange is capped at 40 to 60 mL/kg. The label pairs 10 to 15 mL/kg with a 15% to 25% rise in plasma coagulation factor levels. Higher factor doses after failed hemostasis are not calculated.
Allowed range: 2.2–551.16 lb
Volume in mL equals kilograms times mL/kg. The label prints no maximum body weight. The entry bound of 250 kg is only the limit of this form.

Primary source
Octaplas (pooled plasma, solvent/detergent treated) US prescribing information, DailyMed setid b4981410-de8e-8401-a720-f6df2561fbc1. Initial factor-replacement dose is 10 to 15 mL per kg. The label pairs that dose with a 15% to 25% rise in plasma coagulation factor levels. If hemostasis is not achieved, higher doses are a separate clinical step and are not calculated here. For thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura plasma exchange, 1 to 1.5 plasma volumes are stated as 40 to 60 mL per kg. The infusion must not exceed 0.020 to 0.025 mmol citrate per kg per minute, which the label equates to less than 1 mL of Octaplas per kg per minute. The shortest time at that rate, in minutes, equals the mL per kg. Each bag is 200 mL. The label prints no maximum body weight. The entry bound on this form is 250 kg and is not a labeled weight cap. Volume in mL is body weight in kg times the labeled mL per kg. (2024)
