Graham RC, Hughes RAC. A modified peripheral neuropathy scale: the Overall Neuropathy Limitations Scale. J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry. DOI: 10.1136/jnnp.2005.081547. PMID: 16574730. The scale figure: arm grades 0 to 5 plus leg grades 0 to 7 give a total of 0 to 12. Arm 0 is normal. Arm 1 is minor symptoms that spare the listed functions. Arm 2 affects but does not prevent any listed function. Arm 3 prevents at least one but not all. Arm 4 prevents all listed functions while purposeful movement remains. Arm 5 prevents all purposeful arm movement. Leg 0 is walking, stairs, and running not affected. Leg 1 is those activities affected with a gait that does not look abnormal. Leg 2 is independent walking with an abnormal gait. Leg 3 needs one-sided support for 10 metres. Leg 4 needs two-sided support for 10 metres. Leg 5 uses a wheelchair for 10 metres but can stand and walk 1 metre with one person's help. Leg 6 cannot walk that metre and still has some purposeful leg movement. Leg 7 has no purposeful leg movement. The paper does not print mild, moderate, or severe total-score groups. Ankle braces are recorded and do not change the grade. (2006)
