Chang TS et al. Evaluation of the modified asthma predictive index in high-risk preschool children. J Allergy Clin Immunol Pract. DOI: 10.1016/j.jaip.2012.10.008. PMID: 24187656. A positive index requires at least 4 wheezing episodes and either at least 1 major criterion or at least 2 minor criteria. Major criteria are parental physician-diagnosed asthma, physician-diagnosed atopic dermatitis, and sensitization to at least one aeroallergen. Minor criteria are wheezing unrelated to colds, blood eosinophils of 4% or greater, and sensitization to milk, egg, or peanut. Guilbert 2004 states the enrollment rule of at least 4 episodes and eosinophils of 4% or greater. (2013)
